The office colleagues work hard to reduce food waste by sharing leftovers with student staff, staff members from other floors, and posting signs in the kitchen when there is leftover food from events or meetings. Leftover bakery items are placed in the freezer from events. For the most part, lights in the common areas are left off during work hours. Two office spaces with windows rarely turn on their office lights, relying instead on natural light. The department purchased silverware to reduce waste, and have implemented composting in the common kitchen. The green team sent an email to staff raising awareness about sustainability. Over 50% of the staff are certified Planet Blue Ambassadors.
