Description
The Boyle Lab focuses on understanding how DNA sequence variations, such as tandem repeats and mobile genetic elements, influence gene regulation and human health. Our research integrates wet lab molecular biology techniques and high-throughput sequencing with advanced computational analyses to investigate regulatory interactions within complex genomic regions. We examine how genetic variation, somatic mosaicism, and mobile element insertions contribute to diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s. In addition, the lab develops machine learning tools and genetic risk models to better interpret non-coding variants across diverse populations. Through this interdisciplinary approach, we strive to uncover new layers of the human regulatory code and advance our understanding of genome function in health and disease. {Previously Certified Gold: March 25, 2016}
