Maintenance-Auxiliaries and Central Shops has achieved gold level certification. Units within F&O share equipment when possible. The department recently purchased a battery-powered man-lift instead of an equivalent gas-consuming unit. Metals are recycled from consolidated collection points. The department recovers refrigerants and contaminated oils for reclamation/reuse. Energy and waste have been reduced by assigning tablets to field staff and going paperless for work assignments. Vehicle use is coordinated for multiple employee attendance training events. Telephone call-in numbers are provided to avoid unnecessary travel. Whenever possible sustainability is highlighted for staff. Space heaters have been eliminated. When purchasing supplies, recycled content paper items are prioritized.
